(MOE) Malaysian Ministry of Education Student Group Competition – 2 to 20 participants
 * Open only to students holding Malaysian citizenship. PAJSK points will be awarded to MOE participants
 * P/S: Open for registrations  upon confirmation from MOE.
Five shortlisted teams will be invited to participate in the live competition and awarded with certificates and hampers.

BEST GROUP AWARD

The “Best Group Award” is a prestigious honor introduced at the LeUke Malaysia International Ukulele Festival to celebrate exceptional group performances. This award highlights groups that showcase extraordinary talent, creativity, teamwork, and stage presence. 

Award Details

Eligibility: Open to all gold prize winners in group categories, excluding the MOE Malaysia Student Group Competition.

Winners: Three groups will be selected, with no ranking among them.

Prize: Each winning group receives RM1000.

Judging Criteria: 

  • Uniqueness of Performance: Creativity and distinctive style.

    • Participants from China: Upload to Baidu Netdisk and paste the link into the registration form. The video will be uploaded to YouTube for public viewing, and registration implies consent to this arrangement.
  • Registration DeadlineMay 15.
  • Name: The name on the registration form must match the name on the passport/ID card.
  • Confirmation: Preliminary videos and registration forms must be submitted before the deadline to complete registration. A confirmation email will be sent.
  • Invalid Applications: Late, incomplete, or unclear applications will be considered invalid.
2. Content and Conduct
  • Restrictions: Entries must not contain sensitive content (e.g., religious or racial discrimination).
  • Accuracy: Ensure all provided information is accurate.
  • Violations: Violations of the rules will result in disqualification.

This competition adopts a post-shortlisting fee payment model. Shortlisted participants will be notified to confirm their intention to continue participating. If confirmed, participants must pay the fee and complete the shortlisting form to facilitate subsequent arrangements such as accommodation and meals.

  • Minors: Participants under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants aged 13 to 17 must have parental/guardian consent.
  • Song Selection
    • Semi-finals and Finals: Performers must select different pieces for the semi-finals and finals.
    • Preliminary Round: Songs from the preliminary round can be reused in subsequent rounds.
2. Accommodation and Insurance
  • Accommodation Arrangements: Participants must stay at the designated hotel, which is also the venue for the festival.
  • Accommodation Responsibility: The organizer’s responsibility is limited to providing the requested number of hotel rooms based on participants’ requirements. Once the hotel room keys are handed over to participants, the organizer will no longer be responsible for the actual accommodation arrangements, and any incidents occurring in the rooms will be the sole responsibility of the participants.
  • International Transportation:
    • Participants must arrive in Malaysia by August 7.
    • On the morning of August 8, buses will be provided to transport participants from hotels near Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the competition venue.
    • Participants who do not wish to take the bus must arrange their own transportation and ensure timely arrival.
  • Insurance: International participants must purchase travel insurance and upload proof of insurance.
  • Dietary Requirements:Any special dietary needs (such as vegetarian options, halal options or food allergies) must be noted on the registration form.

  • Effects Usage: Solo performances are not allowed to use any effects pedals (built-in or loop pedals).
  • Group Performances: Percussion elements are allowed in group performances, with no restrictions on format (play & sing or instrumental).
  • Judging Criteria:
    • Technique & Skill: 35%
    • Musicianship & Musicality:35%
    • Creativity & Stagecraft: 20%
    • Overall Presentation: 10%
  • Final Decision: The judges’ decisions are final and cannot be disputed.
2. Eligibility
  • Video Submission: All categories require preliminary selection through video submission. The videos must be recorded according to the specifications of the example video.

    • Members of group competitions cannot participate in multiple teams within the same category.
    • Example: One can register for any team in UG1, UG2, or UG3, but cannot register for two teams in the UG1 category.
  • UG3 Category Requirement:
    • The UG3 category must ensure that at least 80% of the team members are 45 years old or above.
  • Cross-Category Fees:
    • An additional fee is required for each extra category after being selected.
    • Example: Registering and being selected for UF2, US2, and UG2 simultaneously would result in a total registration fee of RM500 (RM200 + RM200 + RM100).
  • Minors: Minors must provide parent or guardian information and obtain their consent.
  • Age: Age is determined by the participant’s age in the current year, not by birth date.
How DO I Participate?

Click the “Register Now” button on the LeUke website and submit all required information, including the link to the preliminary video. Preliminary participation is free.

Yes! We hear you—not everyone wants to compete, but everyone deserves to experience the magic! LeUke Festival 2025 decided to offer a Festival Pass for Non-Contestants — you can register at June 1st which is 8 more weeks from now!

Who Can Join:
Open to all ukulele lovers who want to immerse themselves in the festival without competing.

How to Register:
Registration opens from June 1 – July 15, 2025 on our official website.
Slots are granted on a first-come, first-served basis via an online form.
Pricing (Per Room):
1 person: RM1,300
2 persons: RM1,800
3 persons: RM2,600
4 persons: RM3,300
P/s: All room can fit up to 4 persons, so ask your friends to join together and share the charges with you(so you can pay cheaper)!
Note: The charges are meant for 3-day/2-night accommodation and meals, and the best part is all festival activities are free to attend!
